Your journey will lead you to famous domestic and foreign beauty spots.

Cancún, Isla Mujeres and Playa del Carmen

Life is pretty awesome in Mexico. Since I came to Hostel Ka’beh on Friday I’ve met so many awesome backpackers! The hostel is wonderful, really chill and has everything you could want and need. It is located in the center of Cancún, however I will write more about it in the near future when I write about accommodation in Mexico.

Here you can see some pictures:

They say when you travel alone, you are never alone. This is pretty true in my experience so far. I’ve met Paula, a pastry chef who is gonna be traveling the world for 14 months and we have been exploring together since Friday. On Friday we took it easy and went to Playa Delfines, one of the best beaches in Cancun zona hotelera.
On Saturday we planned on going to Playa del Carmen, but we heard really bad things about the area, for example there were too many people and it was full of seaweed. When Paula and I were on the way there on a colectivo (shared taxi) I asked the guy sitting next to me for a nice place to go. He recommended Punta Esmeralda, a magnificent public cenote connected to a beautiful beach. We had to take a taxi from the colectivo to go there, but it was totally worth it. It was full of local people and it was great!
Isla Mujeres
Sunday was the day me and my new friends chose to go to Isla Mujeres. I went with Paula y Aoife, my new Irish friend. Something I love when traveling with my backpack is not to plan too much. I go with the flow and I think to myself every day, “what do I feel like doing”? So we took a tour to Isla Mujeres for 420 pesos. I bargain a little bit because the señor was asking for 450… On other tours we saw the price was 800 pesos, so I was happy with the discount even if the “Mexican” price is 375 pesos…
The tour included a trip by boat to Isla Mujeres from Puerto Juarez, snorkelling in 2 different spots (including the equipment) and the food. I loved to be surrounded by locals and being able to hang out to them. From here I thank my sweet friends Linda and Cesar who took pictures of us under the water!
Snorkeling in Isla Mujeres

The sunset there was so beautiful as you can see in the pictures

By the way, I’m going to Cuba with my friend Paula from the 4th of September to the 11th.
All your tips for la Habana and surroundings are welcome!!!
